He was born in Conakry, Guinea on September 13, 1942 as the son of Mehmet Cemil and Fatumata Mamady Sökmen As a choreographer, teacher, director, and ordinary member of the State Ballet his biography has taken its place in many encyclopedias such as “Meydan Larousse,” “Who’s Who in Turkey,” “Who’s Who in the World,” and “Milliyet Grand Encyclopedia.” He has graduated from Ankara State Conservatory with a Master’s Degree.

Born in İstanbul, Gaye Sökmen started her career as a ballet teacher at Bale Sanat Merkezi in 1984. In the scope of Bale Sanat Merkezi productions, she worked as an assistant choreographer in fashion shows, commercials, and promotions. She also was the backstage director of all organizations at that time.
In 1991, she founded Gaye Sökmen Agency, Turkey's first talent discovery and management agency, with her husband Sait Sökmen.
During that period, she became the representative of Elite Model Look Turkey Contests. She was the stage and backstage director of many organizations hosted by Turkey’s top media companies such as Sabah, Yeni Asır, Star TV, Show TV and Kanal D.
In addition, she organized and managed organizations for famous brands and built brand collaborations with celebrities such as Carre Otis, Adriana Karembeu, Estella Warren, Anna Kournikova, Irina Shayk and Erin Heatherton during 2004-2015.
She discovered and introduced many new names to the fashion, cinema and TV series industry and conducted their career management.
As of 2022, Gaye Sökmen, as the founder and mentor of a highly experienced team at Sökmen Talent Management, will pursue the career management of Beyza Şekerci, Çiğdem Selışık Onat, Eda Ece, Ece Hakim, Engin Hepileri, Fırat Doğruloğlu, Kıvanç Kasabalı, Leyla Feray, Sedef Avcı, Turgut Tunçalp and Zerrin Nişancı whom she worked with for many years.
Furthermore, she continues to carry out the brand management, advertising collaborations and management of Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, whom she has been managing since 2004, together with her colleague and friend Zerrin Ersü in their new journey which began in 2021. |
